TOEFL exercise 02

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?

 Coutries should not isolate themselver from the world but instead engage other countries.



Globalization has become one of the most heated words in the new century. Some people has been questioning if such change is a positive or negative influence to a country. From my point of view, there is absolutely not doubt that countries should be joining the process and engage with others.

The most important reason is, I believe, that no country can survive, being isolate from the outside world. Each country has limited land and resources that it need to maintain a sound development. Therefore, countries would need to trade with other countries with what they lack in their own solid. Even a country as big as China need import all kinds of material for its industry, and what it export can also be beneficial to others. So it is quite important that a country is developing with the help and trade of other countries.

I think another rather vital reason is that we all need cultural exchanges. One country being alone is not enough. With the fast development and the spread of use of the Internet, people from every corner of the world can exchange ideas, and everyone is curious to how it is like in other countries. So when countries are engaged with one another, they can prompt their culture to other places, let other people learn about themselves so that more and more people can be interested in and fond of the country. This is can explain how although we are in different nationalities, we can still share a world in harmony.

Conclusively, countries should be engaged with others so that they can develop with much assist and prompt their own culture to the outside world. Meanwhile I believe that it is rather essential that when countries are dealing with each other, they should respect each other and bear in mind that they came from different cultural background so there would be very different way of thinking and solving problems.
